JULY HIKE:  CHELTENHAM BADLANDS

TIMING:  Saturday, July 17, 9:30 am

DESCRIPTION:

This hike will explore one of the best examples of an unusual geological phenomenon in Ontario.

Before reaching the Badlands we will walk through a mixture of young and mature forest, wetlands, and pass the remains of an old quarry.

The Badlands are a hidden gem lying amongst the Caledon Hills, featuring bare hills and gullies with a distinctive red colour (made of Queenston Shale).

Distance:  approx. 11 Kilometers

LOCATION: 

From Bolton go west on King Road to McLaughlin Road.

Turn right (go north) on McLaughlin to Olde Base Line.  

Turn left (go west) on Olde Base Line to Chinguacousy Road.

Turn right (go north) and park at dead end of Chinquacousy Road.
