MARCH HIKE: BENNETT HERITAGE TRAIL (SCOTSDALE FARM)

TIMING: Saturday, March 20, 2010 10 am

DESCRIPTION:

Hike will explore natural features of the Niagara Escarpment including forest, wetlands & limestone deposits, and also historic Scotsdale Farm which has been worked for two centuries. Parts of this landscape were tilled by native peoples long before arrival of Europeans, and cow pastures and open meadows are visible along the hiking trail.

Distance: 10-13 km.

LOCATION:

North of Hwy 7 between Georgetown and Acton.

From Hwy 7, take Trafalgar Road north for 2 km, going past the 27th Side Road to the sign for Scotsdale Farm.

From Trafalgar Road (heading north), turn right on lane for Scotsdale Farm, then left at end of lane to nearby parking.

HIKE LEADERS: Janine Ezard & Amy Lindsay are new members of Bolton Chapter who grew up on farms near the Escarpment.
