HVHTA Trail North of Castlederg

TIMING:  9:30 am, Saturday,  November 20

DESCRIPTION
Put on your boots and explore one of the most ecologically diverse sections of our Bolton to Palgrave trail, starting at Castlederg Road and hiking north to Duffy’s Lane and back. Much of this section winds through mature hardwood forest, featuring sugar maple, beech, yellow birch, hemlock & cedar trees. Here and there hikers will pass by farm fields and reforested slopes of red & white pine trees. Whitetail deer thrive in parts of this setting, and observant hikers may be lucky enough to spot one or more  as they hightail across meadows or fields…
The hike northward and return to starting point will traverse a bit more than 5 kms in distance, and will probably take around 1.5 hrs in time.

DIRECTIONS:
Take Hwy 50 (or Duffy’s Lane) north from Bolton and turn west on Castlederg Road.
Park where HVHTA trail crosses Castlederg, about 3 kms west of Hwy 50 and less than one km west of Duffy’s Lane.
