Terra Cotta Loop Hike

DURATION: 2.5 to 3 hrs

DESCRIPTION: Our hike will begin on the Terra Cotta side trail that links with the main Bruce Trail to form a lovely ten kilometre loop. We will travel through theTerra Cotta Conservation Area which has undergone significant changes over past decades. Once used as a campground, more recently this area has undergone restoration back to its natural environment. The route continues through the Jack Smythe Field Center which features old meadows and woodlands and a number of scenic stream crossings before looping back to our starting point. If trail conditions are favourable, we can venture down to a small waterfall cascading over the escarpment.

LOCATION: From Bolton, go west on King Road to just past Heritage Road South. After crossing the Credit River bridge, turn right on Heritage Road North. Go north for about 2 kms and park on the roadside near the Terra Cotta Trail entrance.

HIKE LEADERS: Amy Lindsay & Janine Ezard
