Lecture at the McMichael

Ontario’s Old-Growth Forests by Michael Henry

11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Part of Art Encounters)

Michael Henry is a writer, photographer, and ecologist who has dedicated many years to the research of old-growth forests, from Temagami to Algoma. When he realized that eastern Canada’s old-growth forests were literally not on the map, Michael spent two years travelling across Ontario to talk to forest experts and seek out remnant old-growth stands to co-author his comprehensive guidebook, Ontario’s Old-Growth Forests.

During this lecture using historical photos and illustrations as aids, participants will have an opportunity to travel through time visiting yesterday’s forests and modern remnants. Afterwards, join our speaker on a hike to discover old-growth vestiges on the McMichael grounds.

Cost:
General public: $25
McMichael Members: $20
