Cold Creek Conservation Area Hike (NE of Bolton)

Timing: 9:00 am, Saturday, Dec. 7/13 (2 to  2.5 hrs) – (6.5 kms in distance)

A great opportunity to experience beautiful Cold Creek C.A. in early winter. Join us as we hike its trails, including the Bog Boardwalk Trail.

Starting at the main gate, we will follow the main loop trail which explores many features of this diverse forest and wildlife area. The highlight for many hikers will be walking the winding Bog Boardwalk, which snakes through a spring-fed bog dominated by black spruce, balsam fir & white cedar trees. The understory boasts such boreal inhabitants as Labrador tea, wintergreen & spongy beds of sphagnum moss.

Be prepared for early winter temperatures and wear appropriate footwear (insulated boots).

Hike Leader: Geoff Simpson is a long-time member of HVHTA.
