WALK IN CLAIREVILLE CONSERVATION AREA

Timing:

9:40 am, Saturday, October 4  (3.5 km – 1.5 hours or 7 km – 3 hours)

Description:

Join us for a there-and-back walk through the middle section of the Claireville Conservation Area.  This trail follows Claireville Conservation Road from the Highway 50 to Queen St. East.

Claireville Conservation Area is a suburban conservation area located on the border of Peel Region and Toronto in Ontario, Canada. The major part of the area is located in Brampton. The park is an 848 hectare (2,100 acre) parcel of conservation land located on the west branch of the Humber River. It is one of the largest tracts of land owned by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). Claireville contains significant natural and cultural heritage features, and has recreation, tourism and educational facilities and programs. The landscape of the park is diverse. Its characteristic features are numerous creeks and ravines, flat plains, and rolling hills enriching the forested landscape.

This 3.5 kilometre trail will take us through the heart of the park, past open fields and tree plantations. Originally conceived as part of a larger trail system, this is the only section that is currently completed.

We will meet in the parking lot on Claireville Conservation Road, South of Queen St. East at 9:15 am. For those who wish to do only the first half (3.5 km), we will leave your cars there. We’ll leave there at 9:25 am to proceed to the hike starting point on Highway 50, South of the Gore Rd (and Highway 7). We’ll walk there-and-back, a 7 km walk.

Dogs on leash are permitted on the hike.
