Beautiful Changing River Hike & Maybe Beaver sightings!?
(near Huntington Rd. and Kirby)
This hike follows an old farm road by the Humber past a former dairy/pig barn up to some very active bee hives. We walk along to where the river used to flow centuries ago. Then on to bee keeping station which someone maintains. If we’re lucky one of our fellow hikers & Beekeeper (Larry) may join this hike and he can give a nice talk about the joys & beauty of bees.
Then we’ll walk to a place where the path of the Humber has changed since before Hurricane Hazel in 1954.
Then we reach Huntington which is no longer a road for traffic and walk up to a now slow moving creek which beavers have probably dammed. One the way back to the cars we see an area where the Humber eroded into a bank and part of the road fell into the valley.
After the road crosses a creek we will take a magical side trail along the top of a steep ravine, then through a large maple forest which hopefully will still have its wonderful colour.

There are no washrooms on this trail.
Wear a good pair of hiking shoes/boots, bring some water, a snack if you need one, and definitely your camera.
